We are excited to introduce you the first of our palette - the Blacker Swan yarn from Blacker Yarn and we paired it with Malibu Cardigan from Abbie Knits for the chilly autumn upgrade.

Malibu Cardigan

The Malibu Cardigan is a beautifully crafted top-down seamless cardigan that showcases the elegance and versatility of DK weight yarn. This particular yarn, known for its balance between thickness and lightness, allows for a comfortable yet structured garment that can be worn in various settings. The design of the Malibu Cardigan emphasizes a modern silhouette while maintaining a classic appeal, making it an essential piece in any wardrobe.

Construction

First, you will knit the back panel until you reach the length of the underarm when you’ll put these stitches on hold. You’ll then pick up stitches for the front panels and knit these to the same length. You’ll then join these panels in the round, whilst adding some additional underarm stitches and knit to your desired length. You’ll then pick up stitches for the arms which are knit with gradual tapered decreases. Finally, you’ll pick up stitches along the front panels and neck and knit the front collar band in 1x1 rib. The cardigan is designed to be worn open and therefore, buttons are an optional extra. If you have any questions regarding the pattern, please contact abbieknits@gmail.com.

The colours used in the sample are Dusty Miller, Lavender, Sundew and Sea Foam

knitted flat.

Sizes are shown in the pattern as follows:

XS, (S), M, (L), XL, (2XL), 3XL, (4XL), 5XL

The pattern is written with 20 cm of intended positive ease. The sizes stated are the

final cardigan measurements. Therefore, to choose your size, add 20 cm to your

chest measurement and choose the size closest to this value. Please refer to the

schematic below and the size chart of page 4. If you want a tighter fitting cardigan,

opt for a smaller size. You can adjust the cardigan and arm length by simply knitting

more or fewer rows. The sizes are based on Craft Yarn Council measurements.

Please note a buffer of approximately 10 % has been included to prevent you

running out of yarn. Where the total meterage for each of the colours may not add to

the total, this is due to rounding.

Colour 1 is used for the front ribbing.

Malibu Mini scarf on Ravelry

The Malibu Mini Scarf is a triangle scarf knit in a DK weight yarn. It is knit in

stockinette stitch with an i-cord edge which is knit alongside the scarf. The pattern

can be adjusted in length and width very easily.
